UAMS Medical Students
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is pleased to offer medical students both clinical and research opportunities to become involved in the field.
Medical Student Research
The department offers research programs for medical students who are in the UAMS College of Medicine’s Honors in Research Program as well as those who seek to do research in orthopaedic surgery outside of the Honors program. Our faculty welcomes students interested in gaining research experience to become involved at any level, any time. Research is conducted under the mentorship of one or more of our outstanding faculty members in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Orthopaedic Surgery Selective
This orthopaedic experience offers both inpatient and outpatient management of orthopaedic problems on the rotation selected. Students will be expected to attend all resident and didactic teaching conferences and assist in the management of all inpatients. Students will benefit from the interactions with faculty and the residents and become acquainted with the facets and techniques of orthopaedic surgery.
