Matthew Landrum, M.D. Joins UAMS as a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at Arkansas Children’s Hospital

Matthew R. Landrum, M.D. has joined as an assistant professor and pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.  He specializes in complex spine deformity and scoliosis, hip dysplasia, and other pediatric orthopaedic conditions.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Landrum and his family to Arkansas and to our team at ACH,” said Brant Sachleben, M.D., associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and chief of pediatric orthopaedics at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. “He is a highly skilled surgeon who will serve as an incredible asset to our spine surgery program— led by scoliosis experts Dr. David Bumpass and Dr. Richard McCarthy—and to develop our complex hip reconstruction program.”

Dr. Landrum was recruited from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center – San Antonio, where he was an Assistant Professor from 2020-2023. Dr. Landrum is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana, and earned his undergraduate degree in biological sciences at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge before obtaining his medical degree at the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. He completed his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and continued his training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Landrum has published several peer-reviewed articles in relevant journals such as the Journal of Clinical Medicine, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, and Spine Deformity. He has also contributed to 4 book chapters and given numerous research and educational presentations.  He is a member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society North America (POSNA) and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).

Outside of work, Dr. Landrum enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with his wife, Catherine, and their son, Zachary, along with the family goldendoodle, Rue.
