Responsibilities

  • This exciting research faculty position offers the opportunity to lead the department’s Human Motion Laboratory, focused on orthopaedic biomechanics, including in-vivo joint mechanics, human motion, musculoskeletal modeling,  and patient functional analysis. The successful candidate will be able to achieve independent research funding and participate in training doctoral and post-doctoral students.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will support the overall research effort in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery by collaborating with our surgical clinicians on projects of shared interest.  UAMS has a nationally-renowned multidisciplinary community of musculoskeletal researchers; Orthopaedic Surgery partners with this community, which includes teams focused on bone and joint infections, nanotechnology and bone regeneration, and osteoporosis prevention and treatment.
  • The selected candidate will be provided a competitive start-up package and responsibility for the human motion lab space, with a Vicon 10-camera system, 16-channel Delsys EMG system, 4 AMTI force plates, Novel pressure mapping system, 6 XSENS IMUs, and a Humac isokinetic test machine.

Qualifications

Doctorate degree required. Must have completed a highly productive post-doctoral fellowship at an accredited institution. Priority will be given to those candidates with established prominence and scientific leadership in orthopaedic biomechanics, kinesiology, and/or exercise physiology.
