Ortho Interest Group

Medical students at UAMS who are interested in the field of orthopaedics have the opportunity participate in the department’s Orthopaedic Surgery Interest Group. The Ortho Interest Group serves to:

  • Provide UAMS medical students with opportunities to learn about the field of orthopaedics and explore their interest in subspecialties.
  • Allow medical students to obtain a greater understanding of what a career in orthopaedic surgery entails.
  • Provide current information on Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Programs and help students navigate the field and application process.
  • Facilitate research opportunities with Department of Orthopaedic Surgery faculty.

UAMS Orthopaedic Surgery Interest Group events are open to all UAMS medical students considering orthopaedic surgery as a career. If you’re interested in attending Ortho Interest Group events, please email Darlene Clinton, program coordinator, at ClintonDarleneM@uams.edu.

John Bracey

John Bracey, M.D.
Student Clerkship Director

John Bracey, M.D., Assistant Professor, serves as the Student Clerkship Director in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Bracey earned his medical degree from UAMS where he was awarded the Faculty Key given to the top graduating student. He continued his training at UAMS in the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program where he earned the Residency Leadership and Teaching Award. After completing a fellowship  in Hand and Upper Extremity at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, N.C., Dr. Bracey returned to UAMS,  joining the faculty in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
