Glen’s Story: Hip
Professional golfer, Glen Day, was back on the golf course two months after hip procedure.
Professional golfer and 2024 Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductee Glen Day began playing golf when he was about two years old, and almost 57 years of swinging a club have taken a toll on his body. Two years ago, his aches and pains hurt almost too much to continue playing the game he loved.
After going to a doctor who misdiagnosed what was causing the pain, he came to UAMS Health, where orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Lowry Barnes quickly assessed the problem and referred him to his colleague, Dr. Larry O’Malley. They went over the options with Glen and, based on his fitness level and age, decided on a minimally invasive hip scope procedure rather than a hip replacement. Glen was back on the golf course two months later and feels so much better that he’s postponed his retirement plans.
