Why UAMS Orthopaedic Surgery for your residency? I knew I wanted to be at UAMS while doing my away rotation during med school. There was an overwhelming sense of family among all of the residents, staff, and their families during that time. I could see that the education was extremely well rounded and the staff were not only interested in teaching, but also investing in me as a person.

What is your favorite bone? Femur. The many possible fractures that occur involving the femur can be fixed with a range of orthopaedic implants, from nails and plates to joint replacements. Each area of the femur and scenario require different pre-operative plans and assessment for appropriate treatment.

Best Playlist in the OR? Whatever Dr. Frazier is playing.
Why UAMS Orthopaedic Surgery for your residency? Simply put, teamwork and exposure. As a medical student from UAMS, I was exposed to the program for an extended period of time. No matter the resident and staff, they all had the same attitudes. Everyone was there to learn and teach whenever they could. Combine this with the wide range of operative exposure/training and the multitude of top notch faculty, I knew would result in some of the best clinical and operative training I could hope for.

What is your favorite bone? My favorite bone is the navicular. While seemingly innocuous, if you have dysfunction of the posterior tibial insertion, it's all flatfoot from there!
Where are you from? I grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I went to college out in Colorado.
Favorite restaurant in Little Rock? Crazee's Cafe. It's a hole-in-the-wall diner but the at home at feel and homecooked food is my favorite.
Favorite activity outside of work? It's a toss up between hiking and golfing. Both are extremely accessible in Little Rock, so I'm not limited!
Why UAMS Orthopaedic Surgery for your residency? When choosing a program, I wanted a place where I would operate early and often to make sure that I was well equipped upon graduation. Not only is that the case at UAMS, all of the attendings have an earnest desire to help you advance and build your independence. If I had to do it again, I couldn't imagine going anywhere else.
